- Woot.com - This is the very first deal site that I visit regularly and now it have been a daily affair for me. I also use an Android app - WootWatcher to alert me for any new deals that it has. The reason I am not using the official app is that the third party app links the sub-deals to the woot category in addition to the woot item. It is also worthwhile to check the website itself so you can see the sub-deals in their full entirety. The main woot items are while stocks lasts or 24 hours. Watch out for woot-offs where they will feature a new item wherever the previous one is sold out.
- 1sale.com - This is another good deal site with deals going for 24 hours only. I managed to grab some good deals from here. The official Android app is quite good. One thing to watch out for is not to fall for impulse buying. Do a quick check for reviews for the items that are put on sale so that you know exactly what you are buying.
- Deals.kinja.com - This is a deals consolidator across all kinja related sites (gizmodo, lifehacker, kotaku etc). What is good about it is that they will give a short review on the deals and why should you grab it. Very much like an all-in-one deal site for the average geek/nerd/otaku.
Other import shopping sites
- Ebay - I used to buy alot from Ebay but I was banned from selling just one personal stuff. Silly. Anyway, buying from Ebay takes a bit of research and patience. For the same item, you can probably find more than a few sellers. And each of the seller may sell it at different base price with different shipping cost, so you will have to do some basic arithmetic. Besides that, you might also want to look at the seller's reputation and what customers have been saying about them for at least the last couple of months or their last few sales. A 99% Power Seller may be screwing up all their last few orders and if you do not look out for that, you might be one of them too.
- DX (Dealextreme) - Now this is really a game changer site. Previously, I will have to hunt up and down shops and literally have to pay a premium for some cables and connectors. Even mobile phone covers and cases. But after DX appeared on the scene or at least to my attention, those days are gone! I now just need to do a keyword search, a few clicks and I should be able to find what I want to find and at a very low price! The only gripe is that you will have to "endure" the long shipping time to reach you. My longest wait was almost 8 weeks! Word of advice, avoid buying during late Nov to Dec, Christmas holiday season. But recently, they seemed to have improved.
